Silica from Evonik protect metals against corrosion
Don’t give rust a chance: As a highly effective additive in anti-corrosion coatings, silica from Evonik extend the life of metal components and increase the scratch resistance in paint coats.
Rust caused by corrosion is the greatest enemy to metal components. It not only impedes their functionality, but also detracts from their appearance and reduces the safety, which has a negative impact on the life cycle of the metal components. A protective coating against corrosion must therefore be applied to metal surfaces. AEROSIL® fumed silica and AERODISP® from Evonik improve the efficacy of these conversion coatings. Their particles form an additional barrier within the protective layer.
Our many years of experience have enabled us to develop additives specifically for these requirements. Unlike spherical particles, these particles have a rough and porous surface structure, which increases the contact area of the conversion layer. The advantage is that the adhesion of the primer and other coating layers is increased, while drying and curing times are also accelerated. AEROSIL® fumed silica and AERODISP® also contribute to increased scratch resistance. Our special, modified silica therefore provide multiple levels of protection against material damage from corrosion.
